Belkyra, also known as Kybella, is a breakthrough injectable treatment that targets and permanently eliminates fat cells non-surgically. The injectable treatment is based on deoxycholic acid, a chemical substance that can be found naturally within the human body. Deoxycholic acid destroys fat cells by disrupting their membranes. When the membranes are no longer intact, the contents of the fats are released. These contents turn into free fatty acids and glycerol, which your body filters out. Once the fat has been destroyed, those cells can no longer store fat. This means you’ll enjoy permanent results from your Belkyra treatment. How do I know that Belkyra is the right treatment for me?

Belkyra is an innovative, FDA and Health Canada approved aesthetic treatment for both men and women who are bothered by the fullness under the chin and wish to improve the appearance of their chin profile without surgery.

Is the treatment safe and does it hurt?

Belkyra is the first and only Health Canada approved injectable treatment for the improvement of the appearance of fullness in the area under the chin, and is considered very safe when injected by a highly trained and experienced practitioner. The risk of allergic reaction in properly screened patients is low.

What is the recovery time?

Post treatment downtime can vary. Some clients may experience heat felt in the area post-treatment. We recommend applying an ice pack to the area for 10-15 minutes. Most clients experience swelling for the first week after their treatment, and some pain and/or bruising can be expected following the first treatment. Please keep this in mind when scheduling social plans and work commitments.

How long will the results last?

Yes, the effects of Belkyra are permanent. When injected, it causes destruction of fat cells. Once those cells are destroyed, they can no longer store fat.

How many treatments are necessary?

Are there any side effects?

Temporary side effects include swelling and bruising in the area due to the needle injections. The swelling and bruising typically goes down within five days.

Who is not a candidate for dermal fillers?

People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have allergies, infections and/or nerve disorders shouldn’t use dermal fillers. It’s extremely important to share every detail about your health history, allergies, and medications with your nurse injector

Are there any after-care instructions?

After your treatment our nurse injector will go over the after-care process with you. We encourage you to follow their advice to maximize your treatment benefits and avoid any undesirable side effects. Our nurse injector may want to schedule a follow-up appointment to check up on your results and satisfaction.
